This project is based on the exam title of Growth and Evolution. To me this title took a very scientific side of photography and art because of the idea of genetics. In genetics, each parent
will contribute one complete set of chromosomes to a child, this can contain a
combination from both the mother and father, and because the chromosomes
inherited are different every child will have a unique combination of traits. Some
will resemble the mother and some resembling the father. These can then be
passed on through generations for as long as the gene gets expressed.
I looked at the series of Boys and their Fathers by Craig Gibson. This
project was aimed to compare facial features between and characteristics
between father and son. The portraits that he took were to demonstrate the
physical similarities between the genetic relationship. It explores their
physical attributes, posture, expression and mood. I have also tried to recreate his images and will use both father and son and mother and daughter, experimenting with both front and side photographs.
Identical twins occur when a single egg is fertilized to form one zygote which then divides into two separate embryos. There assumption that twins share an inseparable bond is something that most people naturally assume when they hear the word "twins". "Are your twins best friends?" "Do they like the same, colour, food, games etc...?"
Twins will share a special connection, even from within the womb. There will be kicks from at least 10 weeks where they are interacting with each other possibly fighting for space. In reality, twins are very aware that there is someone near by. The term Gemellology refers to the study of twins and their very special bond. Most twins hold more than a simply good friendship, because they begin to bond as life long companions before they are even introduced to the world. In most cases, identical twins share a stronger bond that that of fraternal twins, primarily because they share the same genes.

Twin is an ancient German word meaning "two-together" (Facts & Stats), which not only defines twin in the literal sense, but more importantly, captures the true essence of being a twin. It signifies "two-together" living as life-long companions sharing secrets and laughing about things only they can understand. Twins share a profound bond, mysterious and intriguing to others, but which is a way of life for twins, themselves. This bond is so strong that no outside influence can break it (Bowles-Reyer). Even for those twins who have lost their co-twin, this bond cannot be destroyed, because it does not physically exist on the outside, rather it exists only in one's heart.
